CoRD

Working on a Mac OS X in a corporate environment is a wonderful thing. All the benefits of easy computing, the dependability and hardened heritage of Unix under the hood. Not to mention the myriad of tools that either come built in or are available free of charge.

However, working in a windows environment with a Mac presents one problem: Remote Desktop. Now, Microsoft has made an RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) client for OS X, which is available free from Microsoft. Problem is it is one of the worst products they've ever produced (including Windows ME). So most mac folks go out and get something else. There are a lot to choose from. Some free, some not. And I have used a number of them over the years. But then I stumbled onto CoRD.

Bottom line: hands down the best RDP client available for OS X. It supports sharing a clipboard along with a ton of other stuff that you would expect a client to have that the others just never bothered to think of. And, it's got a handy drawer with all your saved connections for easy access and fast switching between open connections. It will even save your passwords for each connection if you so choose. Of course, this presents a security risk and I'll leave each to weigh the benefits and risks of using that feature.
